Walters State Community College’s Division of Workforce Training will offer noncredit courses preparing individuals for careers as clinical medical assistants, phlebotomy technicians, certified nurse assistants and registered dental assistants. The division also regularly offers classes in CPR-BLS for healthcare providers and Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED.

Morristown Campus 
•Clinical Medical Assistant, 8/6-11/19, Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9:30 p.m. with six Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The cost is $2,659.
Clinical medical assistants help physicians by performing functions related to patients in medical offices. Students learn to prepare patients for examination and treatment, routine laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing. The class includes an optional clinical externship with a local health provider. After completing the class and the externship, students are eligible to take the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification exam.
•Phlebotomy Technician, 6/3-8/7, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-9 p.m. The cost is $1,599.
This class includes 70 hours of classroom training and 11 hours of clinical training. Students receive didactic and clinical instruction in venipuncture. Those who complete the program in good standing will be able to collect blood specimens from patients in a variety of settings. The class has an optional 15-hour clinical portion requiring 100 successful venipuncture (sticks) in a clinical environment. Students complete the class and the externship will be eligible to take the NHA Phlebotomy Technician Exam. 
•Certified Nursing Assistant, 7/8-9/25, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4-9 p.m., $799
This class prepares individuals to be licensed as CNAs in Tennessee. Classes cover the duties of a CNA, including direct patient care, checking vital signs, and reporting symptoms that may indicate illness.  
•Registered Dental Assistant, June 3-October 23, Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., $1,999
This class is approved by the Tennessee Board of Dentistry and covers all aspects of dentistry including anatomy and physiology, tooth morphology, infection control, and restorative dentistry. The class also covers the use of radiology in the dental office. Student must provide verification and documentation of 30 hours of observation at a dental office prior to the last day of class. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to register as a RDA with the Tennessee Board of Dentistry. 

Hancock Manor in Hancock County
•Certified Nursing Assistant, 8/13-11/5, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5-10 p.m., $799
This class prepares individuals to be licensed as CNAs in Tennessee. Classes cover the duties of a CNA, including direct patient care, checking vital signs, and reporting symptoms that may indicate illness.  

Niswonger Campus
