Adult Learners: Don't Miss Kickoff Aug. 5!

Walters State Community College plans a fall semester Adult Learner Kickoff on Monday, Aug. 5, on the Morristown Campus. The event is free and will be held in the R. Jack Fishman Library. Students can come anytime between 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
The event is designed to make sure adult learners are set to start or return to college.
“We understand that attending college while taking care of your family and job responsibilities is quite an undertaking. This event is an opportunity  get started on a successful semester,” said Erin Dean, coordinator of adult learners and counselor at Walters State.
Students will have the chance to print their class schedule and locate classroom locations during an optional tour. Representatives from financial aid, career testing and veterans affairs will also be available.
Counselors will be available for students to review personal degree evaluations and identify classes needed to graduate. Students can also learn how to log into the college’s email system and online class system. 
Dean will be available to answer any last-minute questions about Tennessee Reconnect, a grant that may pay tuition for adult learners.
Tennessee Reconnect, students must have been Tennessee resident for at least one year, enroll in at least six hours a semester leading to a certificate or associate degree, and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are ineligible if they have already earned a degree.
