Lester L. Laminack is Professor Emeritus, Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Lester is now a full-time writer and consultant working with schools throughout the United States and abroad.
He is the author of over 25 books for teachers and children. His academic publications include Climb Inside a Poem (Heinemann), Cracking Open the Author’s Craft (Scholastic), Bullying Hurts: Teaching Kindness Through Read Aloud and Guided Conversations (Heinemann), The Writing Teacher’s Troubleshooting Guide (Heinemann), Writers ARE Readers: Flipping Reading Strategies into Writing Instruction (Heinemann), The Ultimate Read Aloud Collection Fiction and Nonfiction (Scholastic).

Mike Shoulders Ed.D., spent his childhood traveling in an army family from Maryland, to Germany, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia and Germany (again) before settling in Clarksville, TN. Mike taught for 14 years and then worked as an instructional supervisor.
He retired with 30 years service to the Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools in TN. Mike visits nearly 80 schools and conferences across America and Europe each year spreading the message that Reading IS Magic! His school programs include the writing process (why are most picture books 32 pages long?), magic, rap, and secrets found in his books.
