Choosing a major can be stressful, but it doesn't have to be. We suggest connecting with a career advisor early to discuss and narrow your options. You can change your major as many times as you need, but changing your major often or late can push back your graduation date, expend your money or financial aid, and take up more of your time.
Consult your career assessment results, interests, abilities, and skills to narrow your options.
You want to choose a major which interests and challenges you; however, make sure the field is within your abilities to excel.
Use the following resource to explore which careers or industries your major at Walters State may lead to.
Review the career resources available to you and decide on a goal for your career. This will help you decide on a major that will lead to your intended occupation.
Make sure when you are choosing a career that you consider your interests and abilities. Try not to make the decision on a whim or on only one factor.
Now that you have considered your options, contact a career advisor to discuss your options for a major and to change your major (if needed).
If you decide to change your major, fill out a Change of Major Form and turn it into Enrollment Services for processing.
