Special Assistant to the President

Special Assistant to the President provides support and advises the President in the areas of Affirmative Action, minority recruitment and other diverse issues. The office maintains an interactive learning environment between students and faculty by attempting to prepare the students to live and work in a diverse global society. The office promotes diversity that acknowledges the uniqueness of all individuals, their similarities, and differences; all of which shape their lives in meaningful ways. Experiencing diversity is an important component of a quality education for all of our students. This office is responsible for fostering and nurturing a campus that invites, values and affirms diversity. The term diversity is often defined in connection with racial/ethnic minorities and women; but, at WSCC, it also includes other underrepresented populations and those students and faculty with disability related issues. The office promotes diversity on campus with activities and programs that will build self- confidence in a student's ability to achieve in a very demanding society that is made up of individuals of different backgrounds from their own. The office is responsible for access and diversity planning as it relates to diversity scholarships. The office honors peoples' identities and supports them in achieving their aspirations.
