SENATORS' 16-GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED

CHATTANOOGA — No. 12 Walters State's 16-game winning streak was snapped on the road Saturday afternoon against  TJCCAA rival Chattanooga State 100-91.
 
With the loss, Walters State fell to 19-2 overall and 6-2 in the TJCCAA.
 
Laquantis Stewart had a gigantic game for the Senators with 39 points and 22 rebounds.
 
"Stewart played all world today," said Carlyle. "He played one of the best performances that I have ever seen in this league. It was too bad that we didn't help him out enough.
 
"We played poorly on defense. Ever since the Christmas Break, we have struggled on defense. Its back to the drawing board for this team."
 
A.J. Thomas added 19 points for Walters State,while Michael Jenkins had 13 and Randy Sibley 11. Jenkins added 11 rebounds while Terrance Britt had nine assists.
 
Johnathan Martin led Chattanooga State (10-2, 6-2) with 25 points, while Greg Brown had 23 and Brandon Moon 22.
 
In the game, the Senators were 35-of-74 from the field (8-of-23 on 3-point attempts) for 47 percent while sinking 13-of-24 free throws.
 
The Tigers were 33-of-62 from the floor (11-of-27 from 3-point range) for 53 percent while hitting 23-of-33 free throws.
