Hoops Season For Senators Comes To An End

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A fantastic season for the Walters State men’s basketball team came to an end Friday in the NJCAA national tournament at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

 

Paris (Tx.) took advantage of 23 Senator turnovers en route to a 71-61 win in an elimination contest. With the loss Walters State closed out its season with a school-record 32-3 worksheet, including a school-record 28 straight wins.

 

A.J. Thomas finished off a stellar freshman season with 15 points for the Senators. Sophomore forward Sirlester Martin netted 12 while freshman Michael Jenkins scored 10.

 

Eric Tramiel gunned in 18 points for the winners, Ronnie Morgan had 13 points while Courtney Waters tossed in 11.

 

It was the final game in Walters State uniforms for sophomores Martin, Kyle Donahue, Freeman Pinkney, Terrance Britt and Reggie Shaw.
