Senators Defeat Wilkes CC

WIKESBORO, N.C. – Laquantis Stewart poured in 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Senators beat the Cougars of Wilkes Community College 100-86, Wednesday. The Senators improved to 4-1; Wilkes went to 1-2.

Stewart was 13-18 from the floor and 3-3 from the charity stripe. Sirlester Martin and AJ Thomas also had a double-doubles. Martin had 14 points and 13 boards, AJ Thomas added 11 points and 10 assists.

"We cames away with a win," said head coach Bill Carlyle, "but we have a long way to go. Laquantis I thought had a great game. In fact, I thought our big men all played well."

Daniel Yarborough led all scores with 36 points. He was 14-21 from the floor with a pair of 3-pointers. He was also 6-10 from the foul line. Quinton McAdoo and Jordan Paris each had 13.

The Senators will play at home Friday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. They will host the Generals of Jackson State on Pride Night. The Lady Senators will take the court in the early game at 6 p.m. and will face the Lady Generals.
