Senators Sweep Jackson State

Jasmin Cole and AJ Thomas each drained five 3-point goals for the Lady Senators and Senators respectively as Walters State basketball teams swept Jackson State Friday. The women won 93-54, and the men took the nightcap 85-71.
Coleman was 6-7 from the floor and 2-2 from the charity stripe. She finished with 19 points. Dana Garrett was a pair of rebounds shy of a double-double with 12 points and eight boards. The Lady Senators improve to 6-1 (2-1).
Shan’dedra Cook and Kendra Toone each had 14 points for Jackson State. They each had a pair of 3-pointers. Jackson State falls to 1-5 (0-3).
“This was a good win for us,” said head coach Dave Kragel. “We got a lot of players in tonight. Jasmine had a big night. She has been really consistent for us.”
Thomas was 6-8 from the floor and 4-4 from the free-throw line. Michael Jenkins had a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards. Laquantis Stewart had 14 points. Terrance Britt had 11 points and six assists. The Senators improved to 5-1 (2-1).
Stanley McNeil had three 3-pointers to the lead the Generals with 19 points. Mike Williams had 16, and Tristan Carter added 12. The Jackson State falls to 5-1 (2-1).
The Lady Senators and Senators will play Saturday Nov. 17 in the “Z” Buda Assembly Hall and Gymnasium. The will play at 2 p.m. and the Senators will take the court at 4 p.m.
