BRISTOL – The Walters State Senators rained 12, 3-point goals in a 110-74 win at King College. Terrance Britt and AJ Thomas each had five treys. The Senators improved to 12-1. The Tornado JV squad fell to 2-4. The Senators are nationally ranked at No. 19 by the National Junior College Athletic Association.
Michael Jenkins finished with 21 points and nine boards, and Sirlester Martin had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Britt, who is ranked No. 12 in the country in assists, had 17 points and six assists. Thomas finished the game with 15.
“I was very pleased with our offense tonight,” said head coach Bill Carlyle, “but I would liked to have seen a better defensive effort out of this ball club. We moved the ball around well, and we shot 60 percent from the floor. We just gave up way to many easy baskets to King.”
Tyler Bailey had 22 points for the Tornadoes. He was 7-9 from the floor and 8-11 from the free-throw line. Timmy Joe Meade had 13 points, and Phil Weatherford finished with 10.
The Senators will take a night off and play on the road Wednesday at Union College. They return to play at home in a conference match-up with the Patriots of Saint Catherine College Saturday, Dec 8 at 4 p.m. in the “Z” Buda Assembly Hall and Gymnasium.
