Thomas Carries Senators To 19th
Victory
MORRISTOWN, Tennessee - Freshman guard Alvin (A.J.)
Thomas gunned in a game-high 26 points as the 12th-ranked Walters State
men's basketball team disposed of Cleveland State, 85-71, Wednesday night at
'Z' Buda Gymanasium.
With the victory, the Senators collected their 16th
consecutive win and improved to 19-1 overall and 6-1 in ther Eastern
Division of the TJCCAA. The Cougars fell to 8-7, 3-4.
Thomas, a native of Memphis, was 10-of-17 from the
floor (4-of-9 from 3-point range) while dishing out four assists. Freshman
forward Michael Jenkins (Easley, S.C.) added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Terrance Britt (Fern Creek, Ky.) contributed 13 points and
six assists while sophomore forward Sirlester Martin (Memphis) netted 12
points.
Tray Okoth led Cleveland State in scoring with 23
points. Reserve Dario Pratt added 17 points, Ernest Saunders scored 12 while
Clarence Threat had 10.
The Senators put their 16-game win streak on the line
Saturday at Chattanooga State. Scheduled start time is 4 p.m.
