| Description KAPPA BETA DELTA is a national honor society
which was established in 1997 at the annual conference of the ACBSP to recognize students only in accredited associate
degree-granting institutions for their high academic achievement in business programs.
A Kappa Beta Delta chapter is one of the benefits of ACBSP
accreditation and provides a means by which an institution may give lifetime national
recognition to its outstanding graduates.
Purpose:
This Honor Society was established to encourage and recognize scholarship and
accomplishment among students of business, management, administration, and other business
programs who are pursuing associate degrees in ACBSP-accredited two-year colleges, to
encourage and promote personal and professional improvement, and a life distinguished by
honorable service to humankind.
Eligibility
Requirements for KBD
Students are eligible to be invited to lifetime membership based
upon the following criteria:
rank in the upper 20% of students pursuing business
degrees at the time of invitation to membership;
must have completed a minimum of 15 semester hours of
credit, of which a minimum of six semester/ quarter hours are in business subjects toward
the degree program and
have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Transfer students who meet the qualifications for
membership may be inducted after they have completed a minimum of one term of work in the
department, division, or school of business in which the chapter is located provided their
overall record, in the judgment of the collegiate chapter, is of Kappa Beta Delta caliber.

This newly established honor society provides several benefits as
follows:
- provides public recognition to business students who have distinguished
themselves in associate degree business programs
- a biennial conference, held in conjunction with the ACBSP annual
conference,
- financial assistance to chapters,
- scholarships to students based upon scholarship, leadership, character,
motivation, need, and potential
- Kappa Beta Delta publications received throughout members' lifetimes
will hlp them stay in contact with other members and learn about additional opportunities
the Society has to offer
Meaning of Symbols
The principles of Kappa Beta Delta are represented by three Greek
words, the initials of which form the name of the society: KAPPA BETA DELTA.
Kappa is the initial letter of the word, Kratisteuo,
which means to excel. Kappa Beta Delta members have proven their excellence through
their studies and other personal traits. The excellent person realizes that
excellence is not a quality to be occasionally employed, but is an attribute reflecting a
lifetime of action.
Beta is the initial letter of the word, Bebaous,
which means trustworthy. Kappa Beta Delta members strive to be trustworthy for they
realize that their word and reputation are preiceless treasures not to be lost through
unwise actions or statements.
Delta is the initial letter of the word, Dokimos,
which means genuine and esteemed. Kappa Beta Delta members are genuine and are to be
held in high esteem for both their accomplishments as well as their trustworthiness.
