Statement of Purpose:

The Office of Distance Education coordinates academic credit classes at off-campus centers, at satellite campuses and on the main campus during evening hours. These classes are consistent with the college's overall mission to provide affordable, quality educational opportunities to residents in the ten county service area.  The Office of Distance Education strives to offer both accessible and flexible education within and beyond the traditional classroom. Classes, utilizing varying forms of delivery, provide lifelong learning to individuals seeking professional growth or personal enrichment in a society coping with rapidly changing lifestyles.

Admission Requirements and Commitment to Instruction

Admission requirements for evening and distance education students are identical with requirements for students in the regular daytime program.  The quality of instruction governing credit courses offered during the evening on campus and at satellite locations is equivalent in all academic considerations to campus day courses.

In order to respond to community needs, the division of Distance Education welcomes suggestions and requests for arranging credit courses on campus during the evening or at off-campus locations.  The office is located in room 108A of the College Center (423-585-6899).

The Office of Distance Education, in collaboration with academic divisions, is responsible for securing qualified adjunct faculty to fill fluctuating instructional needs.  Application forms are available on-line in Adobe Acrobat format  for part-time teaching opportunities or to request an application by mail, E-mail Linda.Manning@ws.edu (423-585-6996).
