Henry Drinnon

Vice President for College Advancement
Statement of Purpose:

The Office of College Advancement is an organizational unit of the college designed to assist the college president as he provides leadership in achieving the college's mission of presenting a wide variety of affordable, quality higher education opportunities to the residents of upper East Tennessee. Specifically, the Office of College Advancement provides coordination and oversight in the three general areas of institutional promotion that involve fund raising, alumni affairs, and public information through supervision of the Public Information Department. In each of these areas the College Advancement staff seeks to support the implementation of the college's vision while exemplifying the principles and values inherent in the Walters State Campus Compact. The Office of College Advancement strives to inspire the college's many constituencies to acknowledge the college as an invaluable regional asset and, thus, to foster its growth and development through proactive advocacy and financial support.

Public Information

The Public Information Department serves the college in the areas of internal and external information dissemination, print and broadcast media relations, publications and other substantial representations of the college through whatever media, and general institutional image maintenance and enhancement. The department also serves regional media and the publics that look to those outlets for current, accurate, and relevant information.

Walters State Community College Foundation

The Walters State Community College Foundation is an institutionally related, independently chartered, separate legal entity operated as a tax-exempt corporation chartered within the state of Tennessee. It is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) foundation created to promote and support the literary, scientific, educational scholarship, research, charitable and developmental purposes and objectives of Walters State Community College. The foundation is the official fund-raising arm of the college and is governed by a board of trustees.

The board is composed of outstanding men and women who volunteer their valuable time, leadership, and wisdom in service to the college as trustees of the foundation. Receiving no compensation other than the intangible rewards of selfless service to the institution and community, these business, industrial, educational, and civic leaders make a contribution to the institution which far exceeds the very substantial financial support they generate for its growth and development.

Walters State Sevier County Development Council

The Walters State Sevier County Development Council serves as a resource for promoting the development of the college’s Sevier County Campus by making recommendations through the college president to the Walters State Foundation with respect to the utilization of foundation funds earmarked for use in Sevier County and to the president of Walters State with respect to the strategic priorities of the Sevier County Campus and the development of Walters State’s presence in the county. The development council, created by a resolution of the Walters State Foundation, operates under the auspices of the foundation.
