| Greetings from East Tennessee!
According to a recent ranking by the American Association of
Community Colleges, the college is No. 52 out of more than 700 nursing
programs that offer associate degrees in nursing. The ranking is based
on each college's total number of graduates in the 2000 class, a year
in which WSCC graduated 99 nurses. Walters State's 2005 class had 118
graduates, bringing the college's 29-year total to more than 2,800.
The associate degree in nursing offers a lifetime of career
opportunities. Settings such as a hospital or nursing home, a clinic or a
school are just a few of the career options available in nursing.
The starting yearly salary for a nurse with an associate's degree
working in the East Tennessee area is approximately $30,000 with
additional pay for working evening and night shifts. We hope to see you at Walters State Community College.
