7 Easy Steps to the FAFSA Tutorial

FAFSA Tips

To receive student financial aid, you need to fill out a FAFSA® Application - Federal Student Aid every school year. The WSCC academic year begins July 1 and ends June 30. For Financial Aid purposes, summer school is considered a "trailer", the last term of the academic year. Regardless of when classes end, the start date determines which FAFSA should be completed.

Complete the FAFSA Form

Please read each question on the FAFSA carefully before answering. After completing the FAFSA and each subsequent correction to the FAFSA, you may review your FASFA Submission Summary in your StudentAid.gov account. READ the FASFA Submission Summary in its entirety, especially the comments section. This will indicate if your application has been selected for Verification. If selected, please submit all documents as soon as possible to the WSCC Financial Aid Office. Any discrepancy must be resolved by the Financial Aid Office before a determination of eligibility can be made. Thus, carelessness in filling out the form can result in a delay in financial aid. The verification process can take several weeks for completion. Therefore, it is very important to apply early. Read below for tips and information that can help with completing the FAFSA and Verification (if selected).

You must include the Walters State School code 008863 on your FAFSA application.
