Arrowmont Artists to Speak on Morristown Campus

Walters State Community College will host five Arrowmont School artists-in-residence on Oct. 24 at 11:30 a.m. in the theatre of the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex on the Morristown Campus.

Kidd Graves, Rosie Amato, Dongyi Wu, M. Kobe and Marissa Childers will present artist lectures about their work and process. Graves is a mixed media sculptor. Amato is an artist and metalsmith who uses cast metal figures to tell fragmented stories of girlhood and womanhood. Wu’s work focuses on jewelry and fashion art. Kobe is a multi-disciplinary artist working primarily with found natural materials and clay. Childers is a ceramics artist focused on enhancing domestic spaces.

The Arrowmont artist residency program is highly competitive and chosen artists are provided with time and support to develop new work. Artists also provide Sevier County youth with hands-on art education, furthering Arrowmont’s mission to continue the legacy of Appalachian craft.
