Stevens to Serve on Honor Society Executive Council

Dr. Erika Stevens, professor of Spanish at Walters State Community College, has been named to the Executive Council of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society. Stevens was chosen to represent the Honoraria Society of the Spanish Language. She will serve in this position through 2025.                          Earlier this year, Stevens was named Community College Teacher of the Year by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
“Dr. Stevens’ commitment to strengthening our Spanish course offerings is evident,” Robert E. Pratt, II, dean of the Division of Humanities at the college, said. “This leadership role shines a positive light on our Spanish program and further positions Dr. Stevens to offer the best education possible to our students.”
Stevens will join five regional vice presidents of Sigma Delta Pi to assist with strategic development and planning for the Honoraria Society, the honor society for community colleges.
Established in 1919 at the University of California, Berkeley, Sigma Delta Pi honors those who have excelled in the study of the Spanish language and the Hispanic culture.
